For a company like ours, the website is not a brochure. It is the engine. Sustainability regulation does not sit still. The Omnibus package rewrote CSRD thresholds, the ESRS were revised, VSME became the Voluntary Standard. Every one of those shifts meant the same painful chore on our old WordPress site: open every affected blog article and landing page – often 20 or more – find the outdated number, fix it, re-check the formatting, and hope a plugin update had not quietly broken the layout in the meantime.

On top of that sat the usual WordPress tax: five paid plugins and themes to license and keep current, a dashboard cluttered with plugin ads, and updates that occasionally broke the live site with no warning.
The worst part was not the hours. It was hesitating to publish. When every edit risks breaking something, you update less often, you leave old figures live longer, and a site that is supposed to signal expertise slowly drifts out of date. What is an agent-ready website?

That gap compounds. We ship corrections the day a rule changes instead of the week after. We publish more, because publishing is cheap and safe again. Why an AI-ready website is now an SEO strategy
Search is splitting in two. There is the classic Google result, and there is the answer an AI assistant reads aloud or drops into a chat – what many now call GEO, generative engine optimization. Both increasingly reward the same thing: pages that are fast, cleanly structured, and rich in machine-readable data.

At our traffic of 30,000 to 50,000 visits a year, the lighter pages save an estimated 56 to 94 kg of CO2 annually. That is about what three to five mature trees absorb in a year, or the emissions of driving a petrol car 470 to 780 km – and it repeats every year, purely from making the site lighter. The server side helps too: in a controlled 2024–25 study, dynamic WordPress drew around 27 watts under load versus under one watt for an equivalent static site, roughly sixty times less power at the same traffic.
Per-page carbon figures are a range rather than a hard fact, and we say so honestly – the exact number shifts with each visitor's device, network and energy mix.
