Initial situation: Sustainability as a strategic core component
STRABAG SE generated a turnover of €19.2 billion in 2024, employs around 86,000 people and operates in over 50 countries worldwide. The company covers the entire construction value chain – from building materials production and planning to construction and execution, operation, renovation and demolition. Sustainability is a strategic core component of the company's orientation.
STRABAG has continuously developed the process since the first Materiality Assessment was carried out. Since 2024, the implementation has been fully compliant with the ESRS requirements of the CSRD.
To implement the new reporting obligations, STRABAG was looking for a new digital solution to carry out the Double Materiality Assessment.
Key requirements for a new tool

Introduction of Materiality Master
The switch to the AI-supported Materiality Master Software could be carried out without significant process adjustments. STRABAG was able to use the tool productively immediately, as the onboarding process was smooth and consistently positive. Registration and the creation of additional users were straightforward and without delays. Thanks to the intuitive design of the tool, no extensive training was required, so that productive use was possible immediately.

Customer feedback is valuable here: concrete hints – such as more flexibility in the processing of individual IROs and ideas for the further development of the AI assistant – are already being incorporated into the further development of the software.
